Title:Lights and shadows
Object name:drawing (art)
Created by:Senoner, Roland (Bolzano/Bozen, 1966-11-23)
Production date:1996
Description:From the cycle "Lights and shadows".
Hist. crit. notes:Roland Senoner (* 1966) from Bolzano first attended the Selva/Wolkenstein Art School from 1980 to 1985 before studying at the Urbino Fine Arts Academy from 1991 to 1995. Between 1996 and 2004 he taught at the art school in Selva Val Gardena/Wolkenstein and Ortisei/St. Ulrich. He concentrates on exploring tonal gradations between light and dark. His large-format works might at times occupy entire walls, and his installations could fill a room.
The two works on display at the Provincial Council building exemplify the kinds of playful effects in which the viewer is invited to participate. Objects are progressively revealed a little at a time. On one sheet, tools lie abandoned in a dimly lit workshop. On another, an illuminated window in intense darkness produces a diferent effect. Senoner's works pulsate, and his images are like living membranes constantly demanding the viewer's attention. (Markus Neuwirth, Moving between North and South, in: Art in the Provincial Council of South Tyrol, Bolzano/Bozen 2024, pp. 183, 224-225)
