Hist. crit. notes:Franca Faccin
Born in Vicenza in 1948. Faccin received support for her art by her family at an early age. In 1963, during her studies at the Artistic High School in Venice, she came under the tutelage of Armando Pizzinato. Faccin was also a participant in art courses organised by the La Soffitta association, under the aegis of Prof. Otello De Maria. In 1968, she participated in the „Rassegna antologica artisti vicentini del Primo Novecento“ exhibition in Vicenza, presented by author/publisher Neri Pozza. After her marriage in 1970, she relocated to the town of Oderzo near Treviso. On her working trips to Sicily, she was influenced by the rich colours of the landscape and characteristic scenes of social interaction at the market as well as the dazzling array of fruit on sale. Faccin taught elementary school pupils about the relationship between music and colour. It was towards the end of the 1980s that her fascination with the bicycle emerged, leading to the publication of her 1999 work, „La Bicicletta e il Mare“ (The Bicycle and the Sea) aimed at elementary schools. Her work forms part of the Artist Book collection of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C.
